U-M Students: Get Involved

Student Docents

Meeting Museum staff members, organizing an installation and online exhibition, developing tours for U-M Staff and public, working with children and families on the weekends, and meeting teens in the Museum are some of the possible activities you would undertake as an UMMA Student Docent. This program invites you to be creative and enthusiastic as you interact with patrons in the galleries and offers you time to peek inside Museum operations. It provides an introduction to museums in general and to museum education in particular.

All participants are required to attend meetings on Fridays, 2-4 pm, and to work approximately two more hours per week on diverse tasks. Information sessions will be held on Friday, September 12th and Friday September 19th at 2:00. Undergraduate Museum Studies Program students may use this as their internship requirement.

Interested U-M students are invited to submit an application to the program by September 12th. Applications will be considered up to September 26th, depending on space.
