    Endowment Gifts

Growing UMMA’s endowments has been an important goal of the Museum’s ongoing campaign, The Museum Reimagined, and is a top goal for the coming year as the campaign moves toward its formal conclusion in December. Because the University manages endowment funds for the long term, a strong fund for the Museum will ensure its future stability and vitality. It is also an immensely gratifying way for individuals to know that what they value most about UMMA will flourish far beyond their lifetimes.

In addition to the endowment of a named Directorship and several key curatorial positions, many of the new initiatives and programs that UMMA’s transformed facility will make possible present exceptionally rich endowment possibilities. For example, endowments are being sought to support:

    • a new series of “UMMA Projects,” cutting-edge exhibitions of contemporary art to be presented in the new Irving Stenn Family Project Gallery
    • experimental small-stage performance events to be held in the future auditorium
    • a new lecture series and curated film and video screenings
    • gallery publications
    • primary and secondary school outreach and teacher training
    • conservation of works from the collections—to name a few.

These possibilities only hint at the critical areas in which endowment support can strengthen and secure the Museum’s future. We hope that all of UMMA’s friends will consider helping UMMA realize its full potential and will do so at this remarkable moment in the Museum’s history; lifetime or planned endowment giving is a great way to do just that.
