Besides being struck by the utter simplicity and integrity of design and color, I was moved when I saw that the artist was anonymous. That could be any of us who create—not for fame and fortune, but from an innate human desire to lovingly create beauty. It is wonderful—and inspiring — that the Museum honors these artists along with celebrated masters.

My husband and I were at the Community Reopening today. The museum is marvelous! A grand job. The Amish Square in a Square quilt in the basement at the entrance to the auditorium is a wonderful piece. I sure hope it is displayed better in the future. The corner is dark, despite the awful glare on the glass case. No details of the exquisite piece can be seen. It is a shame.

So many great pieces to choose from, but I'm selecting the Amish quilt because quilts have held a special place in my heart ever since my aunt started making them, and teaching me how to make them, over 20 years ago.
