I can almost hear Ernie Harwell’s voice from down in Lakeland in early March: “Tiger baseball is on the air!”

...beautifully evokes the hopefulness of Spring.

Heidi Ahlstrom-Miller New Haven, CT

Tough to choose -- there's great variety, from the Rembrandt to the Monet to the Tiffany. I chose the Dow painting because of its optimism.

Matthew Watkins Ann Arbor MI

This picture makes me think "Thank goodness Spring is finally here"!! Thank you for planning an eventful opening for the museum. I'm planning to attend the many events, and look forward to meeting fellow museum enthusiasts.

Oksana Malanchuk Ann Arbor, MI

It's refreshing and hopeful.

Shelley Rose Waterford/MI

Gives hope after a dreary Michigan winter!

Kelly Forest Britton MI

Reminds me of times when I felt content and happy as a young adolescent age 6-11 or so. Spring has a new freshness about it.

Suzanne Schuon Ann Arbor

I can feel the warmth of the early spring sun.

Paula Pawlowski

Edi Bletcher Ann Arbor, MI

Oh joy! It has been a cold, cold winter. I can not wait to stroll down this lane. I began my UM career in the Alumni Association offices located in AMH and was greeted with wonderful artworks every day. How nice it will be to walk through those doors again.

Kathy Comisiak Dexter/MI

Pat McCune Ann Arbor, MI

The Dow piece is both lively and calming--what I sought many times as a grad student when I needed out of my research and writing. I was a frequent visitor to UMMA in those years!

Pat Martin Ann Arbor/Mi

This makes me thing of Spring, right around the corner. I like the colors in this piece.

Sharon Ann Arbor

An uplifting reminder of the joy the color palette of spring brings.

Michele Eickholt Dexter MI

The trail through the meadow and flowering trees, up to what appears to be the village is inviting. It looks like it has rained recently - the tree trunks are dark and the grasses are very green - but the clouds are breaking up ahead. It will be a good day for a hike.

Ben Havens Ypsilanti, MI

A path leading somewhere is always intriguing - but especially in the vibrant colors of spring. The Impressionistic feel leaves much to the imagination.

Brian Rumao Ann Arbor, MI

The journey home, which starts with bare trees but follows with promising lavender foliage, reminds me of the path we take from foreign lands to the place we know best.

Kyle Wilson Ann Arbor, MI

I love the perspective of the piece, it places the view directly into the art itself. I also enjoy the fact that there are fragments of grass on the path and the fence is broken along the way, it adds a sense of worldly flaw to the scene. It also gives a sense of antiquity to the piece as the path and garden look to have been void of human influence for a long while.

Fred Hindley South Lyon MI

Oh! How we need Spring time!!!!!

Sherry Cogswell Ann Arbor, MI

Hedwig Murphy Ann Arbor Mi

However, my real favorite is not among the choices.

Louis King Ann Arbor/MI

R.P. Aditya Ann Arbor/MI

The essential simplicity, clarity and spring beauty is captured perfectly to lead you to a new day/season/life.

Jill Baker Clinton, MI

I love the colors and the apparent invitation to walk up the path. The trees almost look as if you could reach out and touch them.

Ariana Bostian-Kentes Ann Arbor, MI

It has a dream-like quality that makes you feel like you're in the painting. It's soothing.

Seth Watson Ann Arbor MI

The contrast between the green and the pink is excellent and the fact that the road is obscured in many places up the hill just serves to draw the eye to it even more. It's kind of like Where's Waldo in a way.

Robert Borders Louisville, KY

Julia Eussen

I just feel good when I see it.

Flora Ferrara Ann arbor, MI

After a long Michigan winter, the blossoms beside the path seem hopeful - and the path leads us onward and upwards towards spring

Mari Detroit, MI

This is my favorite for the simple reason that I want to be inside this painting. Beautiful.

Roberta Price  Ann Arbor, Michigan

Spring Landscape is a fine example of Arthur Wesley Dow's ideas and technique, selecting his subject from the natural world, using flat planes and suggestive lines. His style was at the foundation of the American Arts and Crafts Movement. As a painter, printmaker and photographer he influenced decades of artists. He also was a beloved teacher and wrote an important manual on art education. I have studied painting, I am interested in the Arts and Crafts Movement, and I am an art educator. This is a natural choice for me. Thank you Margaret Parker.

Kelly Brewer  Ann Arbor

This painting says hope, joy and new beginnings. It's been a long winter and spring looks so good!

Andrea Bolash  Ann Arbor, MI

Nancy Connell  Jackson, MI

Art Pick is a lovely preview to the museum opening. It will be wonderful to see the collection face to face again.

Amanda Trombly Dressel  Ann Arbor, MI

My Grandmother was an artist, and as I lounged around the house, I would look at her paintings with winding roads and I would always imagine where the road could take me. As I move from my old life to my new life, the spring blossoms represent a new beginning and rebirth.

Sharon Karahan  South Lyon, MI

so delicate and yet so moving.

I like the landscape pics but my second choice would have been the Mitsusada.

Jean Spondike Rochester Hills, Michigan

Marilou Ro, Michigan

Mae Royal Oak MI

The painting is simple, yet evocative. More than any of the other paintings or pieces in the collection, I can picture myself there. I am curious about this beautiful but seemingly unfinished space. It is just the beginning - both in terms of "Spring" but also what the artists styles has left to the imagination.
